Erna Brodber is a Jamaican writer, sociologist and social activist. In addition to numerous academic awards, Brodber has won several awards for her fiction, including the 1999 Jamaican Musgrave Gold Award for Literature and Orature, and the 1989 Commonwealth Writer’s Prize for the Caribbean/Canada region for her novel, MyaI (1988). Her other novels are Jane and Louisa Will Soon Come Home (1980), Louisiana (1994) and, her latest, The Rainmaker’s Mistake (2007).
