Shane Book is a Canadian poet and filmmaker of Trinidadian and Peruvian ancestry. He is the author of Congotronics (2014) and Ceiling of Sticks (2010). Book is the recipient of the 2012 Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award, the 2011 Poetry Society of America ‘New American Poet’ award, the 2009 Prairie Schooner Book Prize, and has been awarded numerous fellowships including: fellowships to the Flaherty Film Seminar, the Telluride Film Festival, the New York Times Fellowship in Poetry, and the Academy of American Poets Prize.
