Grace Nichols is a Guyana-born England-based poet who has published numerous collections, including I Have Crossed an Ocean (2010), Picasso, I Want My Face Back (2009), Startling the Flying Fish (2006), The Fat Black Woman’s Poems (2006), Paint Me a Poem (2004), and I Is a Long Memoried Woman (1983). Over the years, Nichols has received several awards that include the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, the Art’s Council Writer’s Award, the Guyana Poetry Prize and the Cholmondeley Award.
