Merle Hodge is a Trinidadian writer, scholar and activist. She has published two novels: Crick Crack, Monkey (1970) and For the Life of Laetitia (1993). Her novels have been lauded as seminal works of the Caribbean canon, and were honoured by the International Congress of Literature in 2010. In 2012, Merle received a NALIS Lifetime Literary Achievement Award.
