Lauren Alleyne is a Trinidadian born, Iowa-based writer. She has published a collection of poetry, Difficult Fruit (2014), several poems and essays in a series of journals and anthologies, including Black Arts Quarterly, The Crab Orchard Review and The Cimarron Review. She has been awarded the Robert Chasen Graduate Poetry Prize at Cornell, The Atlanta Review‘s International Publication Prize, the 2003 Atlantic Monthly Student Poetry Prize and the 2010 Small Axe Literary Prize, among others.
