Gaiutra Bahadur is a Guyana- born, America based author, book critic and journalist.  Coolie Woman: The Odyssey of Indenture is her first book, and it was published to critical acclaim in 2013.  Over the years, Bahadur has written daily newspaper articles of asylum seekers and immigrants, and reported from the U.S.- Mexico border, refugee outposts in Syria and Jordon, among others. In 2007-2008 she was awarded the Neiman Fellow at Harvard, and was the 2014 winner of the Gordon K. and Sybil Lewis Prize. Coolie Woman was also a finalist for the UK’s 2014 Orwell Book Prize and the 2014 OCM Bocas Prize.
