Teju Cole is a Nigerian-born, New York based writer. He has published a novella, Every Day is for the Thief (2007), and a novel, Open City (2012). He has written pieces for The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Atlantic, amongst others. Open City won him the 2012 PEN/Hemingway Award, the 2011-2012 New York City Book Award for Fiction, the Rosenthal Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Internationaler Literaturpreis.The book went on to be shortlisted for several other awards, and listed on numerous “best-of” lists for 2011.
