Myriam Chancy is a Haitian-Canadian scholar, poet and fiction writer. In addition to several academic books, she has published three novels: Spirit of Haiti (2003), The Scorpion’s Claw (2005) and The Loneliness of Angels (2010). Spirit of Haiti was shortlisted for Best First Book, Canada/Caribbean region, for the 2004 Commonwealth Prize, while her latest novel, The Loneliness of Angels, won the 2010 Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award in the Best Book of Fiction category and was longlisted for the 2011 OCM Bocas Prize in Caribbean Literature.
