Mervyn Morris is a Jamaican poet and scholar. He has published six collections of poetry: The Pond (1973), Shadowboxing (1979), Examination Centre (1993), On Holy Week (1993), Vestiges (1996) and I Been There, Sort Of: New and Selected Poems (2006). He has conducted numerous international poetry workshops and, in 1992, was a U.K. Arts Council Visiting Writer in Residence at the South Bank Centre. In 2009, he was awarded Jamaica’s Order of Merit.
