Kendel Hippolyte is a St Lucian dramatist and poet. He has written eight plays including: The Drum-Maker (1976), The Song of One (1995) and Triptych (2000), five poetry collections, Island in the Sun, Side Two… (1980), Bearings (1986), The Labyrinth (1991), Night Vision (2005) and Fault Lines (2012), and has also edited anthologies of poetry as well. He has received the St Lucian Literature prize in the Minvielle & Chastanet Fine Arts Awards twice, a James Michener Fellowship and, in 2000, the St. Lucia Medal of Merit (Gold) for Contribution to the Arts, among other prizes and awards.
